Swift Craft Explorer 5.6 mtrs, 140HP Evinrude, Trailer
I bought this boat about 6 months ago because it had a brand new outboard
on the back. (I already have a boat but needed a new motor). The motors
were swapped by a boat mechanic & now the Swift Craft is back up for sale.
This sized boat is good for a young family or outside fishing with the
mates.
Before I bought the Swift Craft, I was able to speak to the previous 2
owners & have an idea of the boats history over the last 7 years. The 140
Evinrude motor is from my boat which I have owned for 6 years.
Boat – Swift Craft 5.6m (18 ½’) half cabin fiberglass. Unsure of the
year of manufacture, but guess it is around mid 80’s. Boat is registered
& boatcoded.
The boat comes with - fish finder, pedestal seats, rear bench seat, rope &
anchor, auxiliary motor bracket, ladder, bilge pump, navigation lights,
cabin light, safety gear including (v-sheet, life jackets, paddle, tie
downs & motor flush). There was a VHF radio when I bought it but didn’t
work, however the antenna & lead are still included. The cabin seats & rear
lounge were recovered about 3 years ago with grey vinyl. I was told when I
had the motors swapped the transom is in good condition, no rot.
Trailer – Galvanised Brooker Trailer, single axle with registration. The
trailer is in sound condition. The winch is 2 speed with Spectra winch
rope. One of the guards is damaged I was told a wheel came off the trailer
about 2 years ago.
Motor - 140hp Evinrude 1991. Most of my boating is outside fishing & this
motor has been reliable for me over the years on my Haines Hunter. It is
now starting to show its age & need some work. The motor is fixable or
could be onsold or used as spares.
Water pump needs to be replaced, needs a service & tune, oil injection is
over pressurizing causing excessive exhaust on startup when cold & a slight
oil leak out past the bottom seal of gearbox when motor is stopped. When
the motor is warm, starting is good with minimal exhaust & the motor
operates fine. The oil injection system could easily be removed & 2 stroke
oil mixed in the fuel tank. This might possibly solve the oil leak
problem???
Overall the boat, trailer are good & the motor is average.
